Weekend

I’ve never known the weekends to fly by as fast as they are doing so as of late. Sunday nights I lie in bed and open the ‘work folder’ in my brain. Ugh. Le sigh. Blegh. And Monday mornings I blog to put off said work.

We had a quintessential spring weekend at home. Yard work, cooking, cleaning, sudafed, and other miscellaneous chores.

Our laundry room was one of those rooms we didn’t touch during the big reno. It has been like a mosquito in my brain, so I decided to start the project this weekend. The prior owner of this matchbox must have really loved green. It was like 50 shades of seasick in this place. The outside is a pale puke green. The exterior doors are a tired hunter green. The laundry room is literally three shades of green; a shade on the walls, another shade for the trim, and yet another for the floor. It is ridic. I have started with the trim and even getting one coat of white has made such a big difference. No longer does it make me want to reach for my dramamine. Now if Sloan would just let me work for more than 15 minutes at a time I might be able to finish it this year.

Speaking of Sloan. She is 7 months old now! So insane. She is rolling over like a circus act. Sitting up really good. Loves to squeal, especially at the end of the day when she is getting crazy from no sleep. Yes, she still hates napping. She is still sleeping great at night so I’ll take the good with the bad. She has liked most foods she’s tried and insists on trying to feed herself which gets interesting.

IMG_7199It’s a mutual kind of love with these two…

Coming soon to the blog, I’m finally going to share some before and afters of Project Matchbox aka our house.

Weekend

How fast did the weekend fly by? They always do though I suppose. I checked off almost all of the things on my weekend to-do list, so that is satisfying. Mr. Wilson did not get a bath…shame on me.

I made the pineapple margaritas…um…I was not overly thrilled with them. Too much lime juice in my opinion. They were definitely still drinkable, but not as delicious as I was hoping.

My hubs and I took the boat down to the beach for an evening cruise around Roanoke Island and then had a marvelous dinner at Owens’ in Nags Head. And yes, I wore a brand new maxi dress that had been sitting in my closet. If you are ever at the Outer Banks and want an amazing dinner with first class service, Owens’ is the place.

I did not start any new paintings, but I did finish one I had been working on for a while. If you follow me on instagram, then you got a peek at the finished product.

My end of week work travels brought me through Raleigh on Friday, where I decided to pop in the mall. I found some fantastic jeans which I can’t wait to wear non-stop. Paige Denim Skyline Ankle Peg jeans. These were on major sale at Belk and I decided to give them a try. I struggle to find jeans that truly fit well, and these are about the best I’ve come across ever. Mid-rise which is almost a necessity for me, the perfect length, and roomy enough in the thigh/butt area to accommodate all my mama gave me. Seen below paired with a fun chambray shirt by Cloth and Stone. I, personally, love denim on denim.

For dinner out Friday night, which ended up being dinner in because we were lazy, I wore my new jeans with a new sleeveless top from H&M.

The week’s end

I would love to hang out with these dudes 24/7. And I most certainly would if I didn’t have to work. Other than being a crazy dog lady, I have a few things I’d like to accomplish this weekend…

weekendMr. Wilson desperately needs a bath, and I’m sure I’ll make it look just as glamorous as Liz.

These fresh pineapple margaritas look incredible. And sometimes I need to expand my palette beyond Natural Light.

We are joining the local Arts Council and I’d like to have a piece of my very own art to hang in the gallery. I just have to paint something I might could actually part with.  This fabulous piece is by Ed Marion, find it here.

I have too many maxi dresses that are not getting enough wear. I added to my collection today with this Rachel Pally number via today’s sale on HauteLook.

And as always, the hubs and I will probably enjoy a boat ride or two.

I haven’t forgotten about my dear old Dad! Sunday is Father’s Day, dur, and we will be celebrating with a pool party at my seester‘s house!
