I Heart Florals

I go through phases with Asos where I will not browse the site for months, and then, like now, I’m checking the new arrivals daily. There are some pretty gorgeous floral print dresses available right now and I only wish I had numerous reasons to wear them. Or to wear a dress in general. Or heels. Or makeup. #smalltownmomlife

IRREGARDLESS, I have picked my faves below.

floral dresses asosSo many gorgeous prints and silhouettes. Liz is wearing the bottom left dress on her blog today and it is super cute, le duh. I actually ordered the navy one because it seemed versatile and casual enough to get some real wear out of it, and I love this style dress in general. Makes me think of Strawberry Wine.

It can’t get warm fast enough around here. Except for the fact that my legs may see the light of day…not pleasant. We have a couple weddings coming up and I just ordered this dress from Asos. Hopefully it won’t be a disaster. It is a little bit weird. We finally got a couch. We sold our blue sofa & chair months ago and have been sitting on…basically we haven’t been sitting. Due to crazy animals and a baby, I decided to go the cheap route and got the Ikea Ektorp with the chaise. I am pretty much in love with it and it cleans like a dream, Rolo hairs vacuum right up (even though he is technically not allowed on it). Now for some fun pillows, a garden stool, new end table, new lamp, new drapes. New house? It never ends.

IMG_6846When I get the motivation to take the pictures I’m going to finally share Sloan’s nursery! Speaking of Sloan…she is 6 months old already. I was playing with my dusty old real camera the other day and took some pics of her (but not the nursery…smart). Love her baby blues.

Updates

As you learned in my previous post, it is hard to stay connected in this world without internet and good cell service. I am once again lounging at my empty in-laws house. They are away for the week and I would like to say we are house sitting as opposed to squatting. Either way we are making ourselves at home, and I am so thankful they do not mind. Our biggest challenge being keeping Rolo from destroying something. Last time, he ate their Direct TV remote. Whoops!

House update: The painters have come and gone except for a few remaining touch ups. I was so excited only to be disappointed by their quality of work. And supposedly one of them got bit by a brown recluse spider while at our house. Geez loueez. Our final electrical inspection is today, and hopefully that means we will have power back on tomorrow. Our countertops are being installed on Thursday. Things are happening! Every single light fixture is finally purchased, all the paint colors have been picked out, my sofa & chair are being dropped off at the upholsterer this week…it feels good. Next up: choosing new hardware for the kitchen cabinets, finally deciding on new floors, getting our gas lines hooked up, more painting.

Product update: I’m still using Cetaphil moisturizer from head to toe and my skin has never been better. Recently, I switched to a new oil facial cleanser and absolutely love it.

Garnier Nourishing Cleansing Oil

I wasn’t really looking for a new face wash as I was happy with Cetaphil, but saw this and decided to give it a try. It takes off ALL eye makeup in an instant and leaves my face feeling hydrated and clean. And it smells good, and after using so much bland no scent Cetaphil, it is a nice change.

Add to Cart update: With all the house expenditures, I have reeled in my shopping like never before. However, I have made two rather large purchases recently.

Rachel Pally ‘Jazz’ Maxi

I bought this for a friend’s January wedding. I loathe being cold, so I started searching for long sleeve dresses and ended up finding this gem. It is so fantastic and I got a ton of compliments. Right now it is on major sale via Amazon. You can expect the same comfort level as with any Rachel Pally number and it is plenty long for you tall girls.

Rag & Bone ‘Harrow’ Camel booties

These booties are in no way new as I have been longing for them for a couple years now. Unfortunately they rarely go on sale and spending $500+ on them was just not in my budget. When visiting my bff in Atlanta, I decided to try them on and they were so comfortable and definitely the most flattering bootie this short, stout legged lady is ever going to find. But again, not on sale. So I have stalked them on eBay and the web in general, basically just giving it up because I really only wanted them in camel. Until one day last week I see some chick on Instagram had just bought them and decided to check out the company she bought them from {Emporium DNA}…long story made long is that they were 50% off and had my size. SOLD. They still have a few sizes left on the website {36, 37, 37.5 — FYI these run almost a full size small}.

I think that is enough for now…have you scored any good end of season deals? Do tell.

My Classics

I was browsing Pinterest yesterday and saw an old favorite and thought to myself ‘I cannot imagine a time when I wouldn’t want to wear that’. So that gave me the idea to start a new board full of those tried and true looks that I always love, titled Best Looks Ever. I realized  when going through my favorite images that a few trends {or lack thereof} stick out.

Classic denim, be it dark skinnys or high waist flares, I love the look forever and always. This look by the gorg Meredith Melling Burke is one of my favorites of all time. I love double denim and a high waist anything. I have always loved this silhouette and it is nearly impossible to make it work on my body type. Sadz.

All Black. I have really gotten into all black everything ever since seeing this amazing look. It just doesn’t get any more tailored, sexy, edgy, and chic all at once.

All White. Or probably more accurate, cream, off white, winter white. Again, an all time favorite, all year long. It is fresh and elegant and glamorous.

French inspired. A classic French look is so romantic, simple, and chic.

Pop of color. While I like head to toe prints and colors, I don’t often wear it. However, I am drawn to one bold hued piece. Usually in kelly green, yellow, or red.

Sexy. I’m not going to deny that I like a curve hugging look. I love a slouchy sweater, a shapeless shift, but more often than not you will find me in something with a little more va voom. It is hard not to when your body shape is more J. Lo than Alexa Chung. I am pretty obsessed over KCav’s entire ensemble. She looks pretty amazing no?

Do you often pick the same looks over and over? What are your favorite trends/non-trends? Do tell.

Weekend Shopping

ZARA is currently having their seasonal sale, and this always lights my fire. I love Zara. Sometimes I have amazing luck with fit, sometimes things fit like they were made for all the Rachel Bilsons of the world aka tiny as hell. That is just a gamble I am willing to take, and luckily things like free returns exist.  Unfortunately for my closet, I was in one of those super weird moods where I wanted to only dress like Mary Kate Olsen/Hobo chic extraordinaire. I widdled my cart down to these items which will be making their way to eastern NC very soon.

Zara saleI really have no idea what possessed me to think I needed a long printed caftan sack kind of a dress. But it is amazing and even if I only wear it around the house, it will make me happy. Fingers crossed it fits across my caboose.

Pineapples are suddenly everywhere. I am always ahead of the game. Le duh.

If I actually ask myself, ‘Summer, what do you really need?’ My answer would be tank tops, shorts, and that’s pretty much it. So I got myself a tank top. I love a tank top. I was born to wear tank tops.

Bird shorts! These granny shorts are awesome and I’m praying they fit like I am thinking they should.

More Zara shoes. I have so many pairs as it is, but these black and white striped numbers have been in my dreams since I first saw them in New This Week. I love a pop of green and the medium heel has me hoping I will be able to wear these in a more casual setting.

Have you shopped the ZARA sale? You should. It looks like they’ve added new stuff even since Friday. I could totally buy TONS more, but I’m refraining. At least for today…
