One cup

My doctor said two large cups of black coffee is about the recommended amount of daily caffeine for a preggo. I was so happy to not cut out my morning cup altogether. And today, one cup just isn’t enough. I have been up a couple hours and already dealing with nerve pain and heartburn and dog vomit. Awesome!

One thing making my morning truly awesome is that Meredith has blogged my maternity photos! It is hard to choose a favorite. If you didn’t buy this blue maxi from TJMaxx then I am sorry. It is so fabulous and only $25. My mom just happened to see it a few days before the shoot and I am so glad she did!

I am SO trying to avoid the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Y’all aren’t making it very easy with every blog out there highlighting your wishlist. Part of me wants to make a wish list too. Then part of me wants to shut my computer down immediately. I’m getting ready to order my glider for the nursery so there goes any available fun funds anyway. Blegh.

I am going to go wash dishes and maybe fix pancakes.

Goings on

I love a random post…so here’s to another.

I just love this little family pic of us (minus my thunder thighs of course). It basically sums up what we do with our free time.

Madewell is my go-to for tshirts. I know that sounds kind of dumb, but their tshirts are the best ever, specifically the Slub V-Neck pocket tee. I have four with two more on the way thanks to their big 40% off sale items promo…that ended yesterday. Whoops. I am not one for duplicates, so they must be amazing. I also splurged a little and ordered their classic Transport Tote in navy. I have been wanting the perfect tote for a long time and I’m hoping this one fits the bill. Also hoping it might can serve as a diaper bag as well.

If you follow on instagram, then you saw that delicious focaccia bread I made yesterday. It is sooooo good I can’t even describe. I used this recipe but decided to ex-nay the tomatoes. It was easy enough and just a little time consuming since you have to wait for the bread to rise two different times, but totally worth it.

When did cereal get so expensive?

A lot going on around here lately…mostly including back pain and indigestion..woo hoo! Other than that:

1. I FINALLY bought a new vacuum cleaner. If you have DirectTV then you have probably scrolled the guide channel and seen the Shark v. Dyson infomercial that basically plays non-stop. I decided to watch it the other day. Then did a little online research and read some reviews. Now I am the proud owner of the Shark Navigator Lift-Away PRO. It is so amazing! And I found it at Wal-Mart for $178. I just couldn’t bring myself to spend $400 on a Dyson, especially when I’m spending so much right now getting ready for the baby. Anyway. That is my story about a vacuum.

2. So my great friend that I used to work with (she quit and left me all alone!) is now a photographer. We decided to meet up while she was with her family at the beach for a little maternity photo session. I am the world’s most awkward individual in front of a camera so it was a challenge dealing with me, the gale force winds, and uncooperative clouds..but let me tell you..there are some fantastic photos that I can’t wait to share!

3. Rolo brought me Mike’s wallet at 3:30am. Thanks buddy. Since I was awake, I had to get up and pee, put Rolo in his kennel, and then couldn’t go back to sleep. I perused Pinterest and decided I needed to make this fococcia bread recipe today. Yum.

4. Season 2 of Hemlock Grove is now available on Netflix. Hopefully watching this will get me through cleaning today. It is a very strange show, but certainly watchable. Speaking of TV, who is watching the final season of TrueBlood? It is such a let down in my opinion, and we are finding it hard to even get through each episode. I wish the creators had followed the books more closely, aside from keeping Lafayette alive…that was a good decision, everything else has been so off the wall and not well developed. I’m a critic on the side yall.

Good luck trying to be more exciting than me.

Nursery Board

So my plans for the nursery have wandered here and there, but then I found these Serena & Lily panels from TJMaxx for $15, and with that one purchase it all sort of came together in my mind. I haven’t actually bought any of this yet (except my in-laws have bought the crib for us), but at least I have a plan. With warm white walls (Westhighland White by Sherwin Williams) and carpet, and all white trim…I am working with a blank canvas in every way.

nursery board_edited-1Floral cornices will be the super star of the room for sure, along with the emerald tassel panels. The bottom half of the windows will have white shutters.

A vintage-y crib and coastal vibe of the changing table definitely work with our home aesthetic.

I’m still searching for the perfect glider (that isn’t 4 million dollars) and would like a fun pouf or ottoman to bring in color.

While chevron is off my radar for the most part, I still like the graphic print for a kids room. Especially as a nice contrast with the traditional floral print of the cornices. A trellis or stripe would also work just as nicely.

Some bright and happy art tie all the colors together and make this room anything but boring white.

Hopefully this will all actually happen by the time this little human arrives!

Food: something I’ve had a love-hate relationship with recently. It’s like I get reeeaaally hungry and then BOOM. not hungry. So annoying.

Things my appetite hasn’t waned for…pancakes. ice cream. cheeseburgers. chicken parm.

Regardless, here are things I’m making and eating and enjoying.

I IG’d this delicious morsel because, well, it was delicious. It was not so loosely based on this recipe from Real Simple. I replaced green beans with asparagus and orecchiette pasta with cheese tortellini. Yum.

You’ve seen BLT chopped salads all over Pinterest. Well do yourself a favor and make one, any one. I made a little dressing consisting of ranch, lime juice, sriracha, and cilantro paste. What is that you say? This stuff…

I can say the basil version is better and I use it all the time. It is perfect for tomato sauces, pasta salads, added to mayo for amazing BLT’s, etc.

I have been craving carbs like a maniac, and am planning on making this tonight from A Kitchen Addiction. It has fruit so it’s healthy right?

In hopes of trying to avoid being a total fatty…I made these “healthy” cookies with no sugar, flour, all things good. This is my second attempt and I thought perhaps this recipe would be better. But guess what? There is no such thing as a delicious and healthy cookie. We ended up throwing most of them away.

A different recipe I made with ripe bananas was this one and it is insane good. Decadent Double Chocolate Banana Bread.

And for my last culinary masterpiece…

These are freakin good.

I watched all eight seasons of Dexter in an embarrassingly short amount of time. I followed that up with season one of The Following. I can’t wait for season two to come to Netflix. Now I am at a loss…what next? I was thinking The Killing…but that is a lot of murder television for one person.

Blogging/grammin observations: 1. Everyone got the new BareMinerals liquid foundation to review? I do kind of want to try it now, so mission accomplished. 2. I, too, want the palm leaf Target bikini 3. I do not have a glamorous “i’m packing for vacation” pic 4. Everyone is pregnant 5. How many more peony pictures can one girl take?

Rolo is so handsome and sweet…and not supposed to be on the furniture.

We need to hang art on our barren walls.

The only thing I have the energy to cook for supper is a frozen pizza.

24 weeks+

How far along? 24 weeks! Baby is an ear of corn this week?

Yes, that is my real life bathroom situation. No peonies here.

Total weight gain: Um, 13 lbs! When did that happen!? Oh, I know, when i ate pancakes 4x in one week, and lots of ice cream, and french onion dip and chips. Thanks vacation.

Sleep: I was so tired yesterday that I could hardly hold my head up. I ended up going to bed before 9pm and slept almost 12 hours. Getting comfortable is starting to become a challenge and the AC pretty much can’t work hard enough. Can’t wait for the next 3 months of blazing heat and humidity!

Best moment this week: Our first major baby gift arrived yesterday and it was so exciting! We ended up going with the Baby Jogger City Mini GT stroller after test driving it and getting lots of good reviews from friends and friends of friends. Thanks Mom & Dad!

Worst moment of the week: Having to think about work again after being at the beach for over a week. Bleh.

Miss Anything? Sushi. And multiple cups of coffee.

Food cravings: Not really. I was craving pancakes there for about a week but thankfully for my ass circumference that seems to have passed.

Food aversions: Not really. Still not craving Mexican which is my favorite food in the world.

Have you started to show yet: Definitely.

Gender: Girl!

Symptoms: The past few weeks have been a breeze although I have started getting really tired again.

Workouts: A youtube workout here and there.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy.

Looking forward to: Finishing my registry so I can stop thinking about it.

It’s a GIRL!

In case you don’t follow on instagram, we found out on Monday that we will be welcoming a baby girl into our little fam! I am finally ready to buy some cute little outfits and plan the nursery!

Nothing much else to report on. I am feeling good and getting bigger everyday it seems. I can’t believe I’m already half way there. Time can certainly slow down right now. I’m enjoying not feeling queasy or crazy or dead tired. I almost feel like a normal person! I have gained 5lbs from my pre-preg weight as of Monday. I think it is all in my boobs. holy moly.

I am working on a plan for the nursery and will be sharing that very soon!

18 weeks

It’s all good in the baby hood. Not much to really tell other than I bought my first maternity pants this week.

How far along? 18 weeks! Baby is a sweet potato this week.

Total weight gain: No scale at home but I imagine a few lbs at this point.

Miss Anything? My energy.

Food cravings: Not so much the past couple weeks.

Food aversions: Not really. Still not wanting meat though.

Have you started to show yet: Definitely.

Gender: T – 11 days until we find out!!!

Symptoms: Still really tired but not quite as bad as I was.

Workouts: Longer dog walks.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Much more even keeled and feeling a little more normal.

Looking forward to: Finding out if we’re having a mini-me or mini-mike on the 28th!!

Nothing but…buckets.

Bucket bags that is. Because I am definitely not talking about basketball. One of my absolute fave blogs eva, the fashion magpie, shared with me this ridiculously good, super cheap bucket bag and now I am sharing with you. Yes, reblogging.

So my dream bucket bag, Mansur Gavriel…le duh. Not something that seems readily available to the masses such as myself. Oh, and $500+.

Enter Old Navy. Yep, Old Navy comin through with a $33 handsome version of this little bitty. I would be skeptical but the reviews are great, and I found a pic of it in action on this blog and am loving it, especially those tassels. Now…navy or tan?
